The significance of the festival of the Prophet Hud (may God’s blessings be upon him), is that he is a pre-Islamic prophet whose life is celebrated by muslims worldwide. A few years ago, Sanders was granted rare permission to photograph the yearly pilgrimage to the tomb of this ancient prophet which takes place in a remote part of Hadramawt in South Yemen. People travel from all over the world and camp out for five days. This work in progress is planned to become a book and an exhibition.
